Your first burn is the most important. Burn the new candle at least 4 hours for its first use, in order to get a full melt pool. After that first burn is complete, avoid burning longer than 4 hours each time afterwards. Upon extinguishing, it's best to use a candle snuffer. Using your lid causes sooting inside the jar and possible fire hazzard. Always use a heat resistant surface under your candle. Trim your wick; keep your wick trimmed to about 1/4 inch. Make sure your candle is cool before you do any trimming. When the wax level is about 1/2 inch, discontinue use. Always burn your candle within sight. Don’t leave unattended. Keep away from children, pets, and flammable objects.
